Gallery 645 presents a rotating program of exhibitions featuring serious contemporary work by regional, national and international artists. We are committed to showing work that rewards sustained looking—painting, mixed media, textile, sculpture and installation that operates at the intersection of formal rigor and conceptual ambition. We believe a gallery should be a place of genuine encounter. Every exhibition at Gallery 645 is chosen because it has something to say—work that opens questions rather than closes them, that invites viewers back for a second and third look.
Exhibitions typically run four to six weeks and are included in the Gallery Hop schedule every other month. Opening receptions are free and open to the public. We welcome inquiries from collectors, institutions and artists.

Lexington painter Honora Jacob works in oil, bringing meticulous technical precision to portraits of historical and fictional women. Her circular and oval paintings—painted in a tradition that echoes Old Master portraiture—place women of imagination and history in richly detailed worlds of their own: costumed, composed and entirely in command of their own narrative.

Blue’s A Color Too

Blue. The color of sky and water, of jazz and melancholy, of distance and depth. Blue’s A Color Too is an invitational exhibition bringing together artists for whom blue is not background but subject—works in which blue carries the emotional, formal or conceptual weight of the piece.

Power is not always loud. It does not always reveal itself through violence, confrontation or excess. Often, it is quiet, normalized, invisible.
Power Without Spectacle brings together works that examine influence, authority, resistance and control without relying on shock, sensationalism or explicit imagery. The exhibition foregrounds systems rather than scenes, structures rather than events—asking how power operates quietly through language, space, habit, memory and material.
Eighteen works, twelve artists, one idea—that power can be formidable without being showy.
Canvas for a Cause

Gallery 645 is proud to present Canvas for a Cause, an exhibition of paintings by the artists who teach free art classes to foster and at-risk children through Kids Place Lex. These are the teachers who show up week after week for some of Lexington’s most vulnerable children—and this is their work.
Featuring paintings by Michelle Newby Armstrong, Debbie Blair, Prince Dinger, Enrique Gonzalez, Constance Grayson, Nancy Zilliox Hall, Mercedes Harn, Marty Henton, Chris Huestis and Hope Soch. Thirty percent of all sale proceeds benefits Kids Place Lex.

DIVERSITY: MATERIALS AND METHODS
Fiber Guild of Lexington

This group exhibition brings together members of the Fiber Guild of Lexington in a celebration of the breadth and ambition of contemporary fiber art. Working across wet felting, needle felting, weaving, fabric printing, quilting and sculptural textile, the artists in Diversity: Materials and Methods demonstrate that fiber is not a craft medium but a fine art medium—one capable of carrying the same formal and conceptual weight as painting or sculpture.

Little Art Big Hearts
A benefit exhibition in support of Kids Place Lex, a nonprofit that offers free art classes to foster and other at-risk kids in central Kentucky.
Over one thousand paintings by school children from 15 area schools covered the walls of Gallery 645 in this annual benefit exhibition. Each small canvas represents a child’s vision, voice and interior world as they painted images that remind them of home, family and the things that make them feel safe.
The exhibition raised funds for Kids Place while giving these area school children the experience of being an artist, of making something beautiful and of seeing their work on a gallery wall.
